February Totals & Year End

Total before coupons & sales:  $403.15
Coupons total:  $156.49
Deals/Sales total:  $309.38
Total Spent:  $93.77

That is a total savings of 76.74%!  I have $46.23 to use next month.  :-)  So, for the month of February I spent $23.44 a week.  I am well under my $35 a week goal.  Isn't that exciting?!?

As for our savings for Israel, we have a little over 40% saved up towards the $10,000 needed for the trip.  I am praying we have the whole amount saved up by July 1 thanks for a little boost from our tax refund.  We weren't expecting one this year so it is an unexpected answer to prayer!

Trashing Coupons

I will be throwing away coupons that have not expired tomorrow unless someone wants them.  I have ALL KINDS of pet food, treats, kitty litter, and yogurt coupons.  If you would like to know what I have because you have lovely little 4 legged creatures send me an email HERE.

I am happy to mail them to you all I need to know is what you use/buy.  There are no MeowMix or Tidy Cats coupons as that is what we use for our little fur-ball.  Other than that, you name it, it seems like I've got it.  Some of them don't even expire until May.  Most expire in March.  All trash if no one claims them tonight.

Vocal Point~Another Coupon

I've told you, ladies only, about VocalPoint.  I got another treat from them in the mail today.  It's a coupon for $1.50 off 1 Kellogg's Clever Kids fruit flavored snacks.  It depends on the product that uses VocalPoint but sometimes I get a sample (some have even been full-size) and multiple high dollar coupons.  I received a full-size Olay ProX night cream and around 5 $10 off 1 coupons.  So, if you haven't signed up yet this is one of those times I recommend you do so.  Gentlemen, this is for the ladies so sign your wife up!

Deals Coming at Kroger

I got a flyer in the mail today from Kroger.  This is the first time I've ever received a flyer announcing one of their savings events.  They aren't giving away any of the details of the event but it is being called the "Cart Buster Savings Event".  The flyer has pictures of all kinds of name brand products: Tide, Bounty, Charmin, Gillette, Crest, Pillsbury, Pantene, Secret, etc.

I'm a little excited about what is coming down the pipe.  I do enjoy the $5 Mega Events so maybe since they are building this one up so much it will be even better.  My flyer even had a $1 off coupon when I buy 3 things on their list during the event.

When I know something, you will know something!

E-coupons

E-coupons are very interesting.  The difference between e-coupons and paper coupons are:

1) You can only use 1 e-coupon per product per transaction.
Example:  I load a $.50 off 1 Smart Balance butter onto my Kroger card and I purchase 4 Smart              Balance butters, the $.50 deduction will only happen 1 time even though I purchased 4.

2)  You can use an e-coupon AND a paper coupon.
Example:  I load a $.50 off 1 Smart Balance butter onto my Kroger card and I have a $.75 off 1 manufacturer coupon.  I purchase 1 Smart Balance butter for $2.50, I will owe $1.25 + tax.
($2.50-$.50-$.75=$1.25)

3)  Around here e-coupons can only be used at Kroger stores and their affiliates.  Publix, Walgreens, WalMart, CVS, etc. do not offer this option for their shopper loyalty cards right now.

4)  To use an e-coupon you just have the cashier scan your Kroger card.

5)  There is a texting option with the e-coupons but I don't use that so I can't tell you much about it.  Bubba and I have 200 texts a month each so getting texted anything on a regular basis isn't going to happen.  :-)

So, the first thing I would do is get a Kroger loyalty card.  I think you have to do it in the store.  Next, go to the Kroger website and create an online account and tie it into your loyalty card number.  Once you have done that there are 3 sites that you can sign up for to download e-coupons.  There is a limit as to how many your card will hold (I believe it is 50) so be aware of that.  It's not 50 per site but 50 total on your card.

The 3 sites are:

Cellfire

Shortcuts

Kroger e-coupons

Almost There!

I am less than 100 points from another $5 Amazon gift card on SwagBucks!!! Have you signed up yet?  Seriously, its free.  All I did was download the search toolbar so instead of using Google I use SwagBucks.  When I search at random times I will earn "points" called SwagBucks.  Once I have enough I "cash" them in for all kinds of things.  My favorite right now is the $5 Amazon gift card because I can use it for one those $5 magazine deals (with coupons in them) or save them up for the digital camera I would like to buy or I can buy some Christmas presents.  The Amazon gift card didn't cost me anything because I will use a search engine anyway!  So go HERE and check it out for yourself and start Swaggin' with me.

Macon's Cherry Blossom Festival

Cherry Blossom
I am so excited!  It is almost time to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival!  Okay, the real reason I am excited is because there is festival food.  :-)  There is something to be said for the food that is served at fairs and festivals.
This year I am bound and determined to go to the Balloon Glow.  I have lived here for 7 years and haven't had the chance to see it yet.
The Party With a Purpose is something else I haven't enjoyed and it's right here in Warner Robins.

Internet Woes

Oh, should I hold my breath?!?  The Windstream tech just came by the house!  Our DSL modem was worn out, Problem 1.  The box with all the wires that is in our neighbor's yard (that 1.5 foot square box that is in the way when you mow the lawn) was backed into a couple of years ago.  Because of that, it's never quite been closed completely since then.  Evidently mice or squirrels have climbed into the box and made a lunch out of the insulation on the wires, Problem 2.

Problem 1~He replaced our modem! It's all shiny and new.  :-)

Problem 2~He is putting in a work order to get the box fixed that is in our neighbor's yard.  He wasn't optimistic about how quickly they would get out here but as long as I have a connection I am happy!

Oh how I hope that my internet woes are a thing of the past...except on stormy days/nights...but who can fix God's internet disruptions?!?

His Word Wednesday

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~Hebrews 11:1

Faith.  The dictionary says it means "loyalty or allegiance to a cause or a person" and "complete confidence in a person or plan, etc."  The Bible defines it as stated in the above Scripture.  The statement was made that faith is blind and requires no brain function and those that have it are "stupid as sheep".  I attempted to explain that faith is exercised by most people on a daily basis and that faith in anything is based on historical data.  Some "concrete" examples of faith:  when you sit in a chair, you are exercising faith that it will hold you (regardless of your size).  When you slip into your car each morning headed to work, you are exercising faith that it will start AND get you to your destination (some of you exercise more faith than others in that area).  :-)  I have faith that my husband will return home each day after work as opposed to going to some other woman's house.  Why do we have faith in these things?  In the chair example we have seen our friends and family sit down without incident all our lives.  Do you even really think about it when you sit down in your favorite chair?  I know I don't.  My dad brought a chair into his workshop when I visited him.  I had faith in my father that he would bring a sturdy chair for me and faith in the chair because I have been without incident when sitting in chairs for most of my life.  Moving on to my husband, for nearly 8 years he comes home to me each and every night.  The only exception is when he is on a business trip and even then I exercise faith in him that he will not watch anything inappropriate on TV or go to the hotel bar and bring a stranger back to his room.  He has proven over the years that he is trustworthy and true to his marriage vows and to me.  I have nearly 8 years of historical data.  When we first got married I had to have faith in the character of the man I had married since I did not have years of historical data or proof to back up my faith.  My point is that faith is not blind...justice is but not faith.  Faith is based on evidence!

My faith in Christ is based on years and years of historical data and proof.  Not just the proof in my life but in the lives of those around me, believers and non-believers.  In my own life, I have seen God provide for my husband and I when all the numbers and calculations showed that there was more month than money.  All He asked of us was to be faithful in our tithing and giving.  I've had the privilege to be a part of God's blessings in other families lives when needs were there.  I've seen God reconcile relationships that were so far gone that there is absolutely no other explanation as to why they are happily married today.  I've seen the drug addicted get sober in less than 24 hours and never have a withdraw symptom or a craving again.  I've seen teenagers who lost their minds and went off the deep end (rebellion, drug addiction, sleeping around, etc.) come home and grow up to be model citizens.

This isn't the best explanation out there but it's one I can understand.  Faith isn't blind obedience or "stupid sheep" mentality.  It is based on facts and historical data.  What is your faith in?  Why do you believe as you do?  "My faith is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and His righteousness."

In His precious name,
Mrs. Bubba

Publix Trip: Shelf Cost $52.65 Paid $11.88

A friend of mine said that she would like to know what I buy when I go to the grocery store.  I may not be able to do this every time but I have the time right now.  Remember, our Publix doubles coupons $.50 or less and you can stack a store coupon with a manufacturer coupon.  So here is what I bought:

12 cans Pillsbury Crescent Rolls 8 count  Shelf Cost $20
Coupons:  2 $.40/2 (man Qs), 4 $.50/2 (man Qs), 4 $1/3(store Qs)
This makes 4 of them about $.94 each and the rest are $.83 or $.84 each

1 large bottle of Coffemate Original Creamer  Shelf Cost $1.10
Coupon:  $.50/1
Makes this $.10
(I only had 1 coupon and I have quite a bit of creamer in the freezer already!)

2 bottles Crisco EVOO  Shelf Cost $6.39
Coupons:  2 $1/1
This makes them $2.20 each

2 boxes of Muellers Whole Wheat Spaghetti  Shelf Cost $1.29
Coupon:  $1/2
Makes this $.15 each

2 bags Fisher Fusion Snack Mix (nut or trail mix)  Shelf Cost $3.00
Coupons: 2 $1/1
Makes them $.50 each

I also had a $5 off of $30 purchase coupon.  If you factor in the prices before the Publix BOGO deals and coupons then it comes to $52.65.  I paid $11.88.

I obviously didn’t go to Publix to pick up dinner for the next week but I did get a few items for my freezer.  Bubba discovered that he really likes crescent rolls about 2 months ago so when there is a great deal on them, I’ll snag a few.  Most of the time I buy them at Kroger when I can get them for $.50 a can but those only have 4 (it’s the small can).  The cans I bought tonight have 6-8 in them so I didn’t mind spending a little more.  This may be more than others are willing to pay for them but Bubba never asks for anything so when he mentions he really likes something I kind of go overboard.  The good news is that they freeze so a few cans will go in the freezer.  The coffee creamer is for my man as well and how can you beat $.10 for a large bottle of Coffemate Coffee Creamer?!?  Whole wheat spaghetti noodles are a staple in our home and $.15 for a regular sized box is nothing to sneeze at.  Extra Virgin Olive Oil…another staple and I was all out!  The Fisher Fusion Snack Mix?  For fun or charity.  That is the beauty of finding things for $1 or less (preferably $.50 or less), it gives you the ability to be generous and giving or take an extra bag of snacks to that get together you are going to.  The food pantry probably doesn’t get things like that fancy trail mix so to someone who is in a rough spot and needs the assistance of a food pantry, that would be a refreshing blessing to go along with the necessities!  “Where saving meets giving!”

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

This Week-Slow Posting

Hello Readers.  I would like to take a minute to explain if it seems I am not on the ball this week with posting deals.  Other than the normal twists and turns of life there are 2 major happenings going on in the lives of our friends and the crazy thing is they are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

About a week ago, a marvelous woman I know had brain surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.  She is now home and her husband needs to go back to work.  So, several ladies in the church are rotating with each other and sitting with her.  I had the privilege to sit with her yesterday afternoon and will do so again sometime Friday.  If she sleeps then I am able to do a little work on the blog but if she is awake and alert then we need to work on her speech therapy.  By the way, she is doing wonderful!

The second thing going on is friends of ours are preparing to send their husband/dad to Bagdad for a year.  He leaves Monday, March 1.  We are doing all we can to be supportive but give them space.  Don't you just love the men and women who protect and serve this great Country of ours?!?  The sacrifices they make with their personal lives to keep us safe on our own soil is unbelievable.  So, Monday we will say "See you soon" to another Airman.  I thank God for things like Google Video Chat and Skype and Vonage so that these families can not only talk to each other but see one another.  I hope you are keeping our military and their families in their prayers, whether you agree with what they are doing, they are doing it for you!

So, this is why posts are infrequent and irregular.  I hope to have things running smoothly again in a couple of weeks.  I appreciate your understanding and patience!

Leaning on Him,
Mrs. Bubba

How to Save Money on Diapers

Believe it or not, there are many ways to get cheap diapers besides using Generic brands! I have never paid full price for diapers and I refuse to do so. I normally only buy Pampers Cruisers or Huggies Supreme and unless I can get diapers for under 25 cents each, I don’t buy them. And, if I can get them for under 20 cents each, then I stock up. Obviously, the larger the size, the higher each diaper costs….and then last Fall, both Huggies and Pampers put less in each package, but still charged the same—go figure!! Anyway, here are my suggestions:

1. Sign up for the Publix Baby Club: They will send you coupons based on your child’s age. Not only do you get diaper coupons, you will also get coupons for produce, meat items, the deli, and even toiletries. They even send a $5.00 off coupon for Publix brand diapers, which makes the package only $2.99!

2. Take advantage of store coupons! Target, Walgreens, CVS, and Publix allow you to use both a Manufacturer’s coupon with a store coupon, which is a double bonus. So, say that a package of Pampers is on sale for $8.99 at Target. You can use a $1.50 Target coupon and a $2.00 Manufacturer’s coupon, which makes it $5.49 for the package. I buy size 4 and in the package there are 27 diapers, so it comes out to be $ .20 per diaper! So, buying the bigger package doesn’t always benefit you…especially if you have multiple coupons! I usually don’t have an abundance of store coupons, but find someone who doesn’t use the same brand of diapers than you and trade with them. Or, better yet, find someone that doesn’t use diapers and let them give you their coupons…I have several friends who give me diaper coupons all the time and I very much appreciate it!

3. Check BabyCheapskate.com each week, she posts the best deals on diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food.

4. Know when the companies are changing packaging and once they do, look in the clearance section! Last summer, Huggies changed packaging and Publix had their Huggies packages for ½ price! And, I had coupons! Baby Sam was only in Size 2 at the time, but I got every package of size 3 and 4 they had. Now, keep in mind that Huggies was changing their packaging to put less diapers in the package, so this was 50% off the package with more diapers!! The packages were on sale for $7.49 with a coupon of $ 1.50 and there were 56 diapers. It was only 10 cents each! It was wonderful! I seriously bought 8 or 9 packages, but at that price, I couldn’t resist. Baby Sam was in size 3 and size 4 (still in them) for months and months, so my suggestion would be to buy a lot of these sizes if you are stocking up. Everyone’s kid is different, but after talking to several of my friends, they have said the same.

5. Sign up on Pampers or Huggies website to get coupons!

6. Check out CVS or Walgreens for great deals! CVS hasn’t had great diaper promotions lately, but sometimes you can get Extra Care Bucks to use on other things. However, Walgreens has been running Huggies promotions about once a month, therefore, keep an eye on their ad.

7. Transfer Prescriptions! Now, if you are like me and have one in diapers, you might be on birth control so that is something I have to get filled every month. Rite Aid always has prescription transfer coupons. And Kroger on 96 and Publix takes competitor Pharmacy coupons. So, one month, transfer your prescription to Rite Aid, the next month to Kroger and the next to Publix. You will make $25 each month and you can use that for anything and it is free money—especially to use on necessity items like diapers. So, basically, you get diapers for FREE! Target and K-Mart also run specials for prescription transfers in their weekly ad. And, usually if a new pharmacy opens, they will run a special as well. I am a “pharmacy hopper” myself, but if you have to have it every month, why not make money off of it? Now, I only have one prescription, but if you have several, it might be a headache to keep tabs on them, but…..to me the headache is worth it--even if you don't need diapers. However, if you have a life-threatening disease that you take medication for, it is not recommended to pharmacy hop. In that situation, leave your prescription with the pharmacy you trust the most.

I hope that gives you a few idea to save some money! ~Baby Sam's Mama

A New Feature

If you look under the title "Mrs. Bubba Saves" and above the most recent post you will see three words:
Home, About Me, and Coupons.  If you click on About Me then you will read a little of my story.  If you click on the Coupons tab then you will see a couple of sites where I go to print out coupons.  The links will take you straight to the websites.

Anyone out there know how I could put a "Saved Year To Date" gadget or widget on my blog?  I think it would be fun to have a running total of how much we have saved up for our Israel trip.  In a few days I will be posting the new numbers for both the Israel trip and February's groceries!  I hope you will share with me how much you saved this month too.

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

A Simple Request

Hello all!  Have I told you how excited I am that anyone is reading this blog?!?   Well, I am very excited.  Due to that excitement there is something I would like to talk to you about.  I would absolutely be overjoyed to take this blog to the next level.  Now, I'm not looking to have a readership of 1000+ folks (although I definitely wouldn't complain) but I do need some help from each of you.

Here is what I would like to do:  as people find out about this blog and then some of them return once a week or once every couple of days or every day it creates traffic data.  As that traffic data increases then I can use it to approach companies in the Middle Georgia area and request deals for my readers or some sort of freebie that I can give away.  It is my dream...now that someone other than my sister-Sunshine- and my coupon buddy-Baby Sam's Mama- is reading this to be able to have a give away!  I have already researched a website that would allow me to randomly choose a winner with absolutely no bias on my part and I'm chomping at the bit to do it!  Don't you want to win something?!?

Here is what I'm asking you to do:
1)  Will you go to my actual blog and follow it?  Or follow my blog through Networked Blogs on Facebook?  (Eventually I will set up a fan page on Facebook so that I can stop popping updates on my personal page...but seriously I didn't expect anyone to read this.)
2)  Will you send out a link and tell your Middle Georgia friends about me?  Here's the link: www.mrsbubbasaves.blogspot.com
3)  Comments.  I think I have 2 comments on my actual blog.  Honestly, I would adore hearing from you!  Did you find a deal I didn't hear about?  I'll post it and give you credit (no last names, promise).  Were you able to cash in on a deal that I did post about?  I want to hear about it.  Did you have a terrible or a great experience at a local grocery store?  I want to hear about it.  Have you never thought about couponing but this site got you excited and now you are using a few each time you grocery shop?  I want to hear about it!  Wouldn't it be great if we could have a running tally of how much the readers have saved because of coupons?!?  Of course, I don't have the technical expertise to do something like that but if you comment on here about how much you are saving then we could come back for encouragement whenever we got off-track.

Ahhh, it's time to head back to one of the greatest churches on earth.  I sincerely look forward to hearing from you.  Your comments and readership will hold Bubba and I accountable this year as we save towards Israel and attempt our goal of $35 a week for groceries.  I need to know you are out there in order to hold to that accountability.

All of you are wonderful and I look forward to hearing from you!

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

Woo-hoo!

There is no way that one person can cash in on every single deal that presents itself.  That would require going from store to store to store to store and back again when a new deal presents itself.  So, sometimes a deal will slip through the cracks.  That is okay.  Sanity is important and losing it over coupons is, well, silly.  :-)
This past week there was a deal on Right Guard Deodorant if you were able to print out the $2 off 2.  I was unable to get in on that deal, not enough time in my week.  I am excited because this deal has presented itself again!!!  Kroger is having one of their 10 for $10 deals (which really isn't much of a deal on several of the things they advertise) however Right Guard is one of the deals.  Woo-hoo!!  I still get to cash in on the free deodorant.

Buy 2 Right Guard Sport Deodorants for $1 each
Use 1 $2 off 2 ($2/2) coupons
Total spent:  $0+Tax

Gotta love free for a full size deodorant!  God is providing for the boys at Breaking Free yet again.  :-)

If you printed out the coupon for Del Monte Fruit Cups those are also part of the 10/$10.  The coupon is $1/3 making each fruit cup $.66.  I'm not sure if that is a great deal or not but I do like fruit so I may be getting in on this deal.

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

Ladies Night Out

Covenant Care Services proudly announces
Its Fifth Annual Ladies Night Out in Middle Georgia:
Mark your calendars for 7:00 p.m.Thursday evening, March 4, at Harvest Church in Warner Robins and get to one of the sales sites listed noted below and on the attached flyer and buy your tickets now!!!!
(The Lamb's Well and My Father's Place Pizza in WR, Perry Presbyterian Church in Perry, and the CCS Office in Macon)
You don't want to miss this one!!!  If you have even one ounce of "Southern Blood" flowing through your veins, this is the show you want to see!  Rhonda Rich is the epitome of a Southern lady and I think you will find she will be talking about you, too!!!
In the past, Covenant Care's Annual Ladies Night Out was a dinner/speaker format.  We have outgrown regular "fellowship hall" seating and needed to move to a speaker/dessert reception format in a larger auditorium.   The desserts we have planned are beyond your wildest imagination and we will even have a "healthy" station for diabetics and others who will "try" to eat healthy after the show!!!!! (Your ticket gives you a chance to win a fur coat, too!)
Call your mom, sister, daughter, cousin, preacher's wife, Sunday School Class members, PTA President (if it's a she), Bible Study group, neighborhood friends, and any ladies ages 12-92 and tell them about this great night of fun and Christian fellowship with the girls!  Better still---forward this e-mail to ALL of your girlfriends!!!!!
Tickets are $20.  It's a fundraiser for CCS.  God has richly blessed Covenant Care in 2009--our adoptions doubled and He is truly working miracles before our eyes.  That's why this year's event is so important!  See you March 4!!!!
I'll be there!  This is my 4th year going and I've had a wonderful time at each event.  I also have tickets if you are interested in purchasing a few.  :-)

Mrs. Bubba

Free Travel Brochure

Okay, so this is not one of those freebies that most people would think to post about.  I just have a hard time passing up anything that has to do with traveling.  Thanks to my Mom, I have the heart of gypsy and start getting antsy if I don't travel somewhere every couple of months.  New places, back roads, and quaint old downtowns are just a few of the places I enjoy discovering.  So, head over HERE and sign up for your free American Byways brochure and get ready to load up the car for a road trip!

More Freebies

Have you heard of SwagBucks yet?  I hadn't either until about a month or so ago.  Go HERE to sign up.  Okay, here is what I understand about SwagBucks:

1)  You get "money" called SwagBucks for searching the internet
2)  You can earn more "money" called SwagBucks when you find and enter a SwagCode
3)  You go to the SwagStore to spend your SwagBucks on REAL things!

I downloaded the toolbar so that every time I do a search I am searching through the SwagBucks' search engine which randomly awards SwagBucks to your account.  I saved up 45 SwagBucks and then went to the SwagStore and purchased a $5 Amazon Gift Card (it is electronic).  The next time I purchase something off Amazon.com I will use my electronic $5 Gift Card!  Or I can save up my gift cards to purchase a large ticket item (I have my eye on the new Nikon CoolPix P100).  Other bloggers save up their Amazon Gift Cards to pay for Christmas so that's an idea too.

So, HERE'S the link again.  Go, sign up!  There are other things besides Amazon Gift Cards available.  Check it out.

Once again, I tested it out myself to see if it is a legitimate program before presenting it to you.  I hope you enjoy!

Mrs. Bubba

Online Shopping...Have you signed up yet?

There are tons of sites out there that you can sign up for to save money while shopping online.  Unfortunately, not all of them are credible.  There are 3 that I am willing to stand behind because I've used them and KNOW that you will get paid.  Here they are:

Upromise~Okay, so they don't send you a check or credit your PayPal account but they do put money into an account that you can later use to pay for your college or your child's.  I've been a Upromise member since '01 or '02 and I have over $30 in my account.  Now, that isn't much but I don't have any aunts/uncles, grandmas/grandpas linked up to our account (I hope the reasons are obvious).  Every penny of that $30+ has been from grocery shopping and having my Publix, Kroger, Winn Dixie, or CVS card scanned.  A couple pennies here and fifty cents there has added up over the years.  If you have family members who link up to your account through their shopper cards then you will do well.  I do not, however, endorse the credit card (just a disclaimer).

Ebates~I think I've mentioned this before.  If you go to ebates.com, search for the online store you wish to shop at, Ebates will do the rest!  They track your spending and keep a running total of what you have earned.  You get $5 just for signing up!  Sometimes the money back is 1.5% of what you spent and sometimes you are looking at 10% back.  One deal that I enjoyed was when OldNavy.com had men's jeans deeply discounted, plus I had a discount code, a free shipping code, AND I shopped through ebates.com.  I bought my Bubba 3 pair of his favorite jeans and each pair were under $10 each!  Now, free is better but I haven't figured out how to get free clothes yet.  :-)  I have already received and cashed my January rebate check.

ShopAtHome~This site is very similar to Ebates and seems to cover the stores the Ebates doesn't have.  I will be forthcoming in telling you that I will go to Ebates first and only if they don't have the store I am looking for will I head over to ShopAtHome.  Why?  It's a silly reason but it is a reason:  ShopAtHome requires that you have $10 or more in rebates before they will send you a check.  The check I received from Ebates was for just over $8.  ShopAtHome works the same way Ebates does, you need to go to the ShopAtHome site first and then through their site to the store site.  You will get $5 just for signing up.

I hope these are helpful.  Send me any questions and I will do my best to find the answers!

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

WOW-Over 200 posts to go through

Like I said in an earlier post, I was out of town for part of Wednesday and most of today.  I knew I would have a lot of posts to go through from the blogs I follow but I wasn't prepared for 200+.  That is what I just did.  I am way too tired to try and re-post most of them here so go look on the right hand side and you will see all the posts that I linked to this blog.  I hope I chose a wide enough variety so there is something for everyone.

I do have a question:  where do you grocery shop?  I ask this question so that when my favorite bloggers post the store specials and corresponding coupons I can re-post them here for you.  I shop at Kroger and Publix.  So, in order for me to better serve you I need to know what grocery stores you have available to you.  Not everyone lives in Warner Robins or Macon or Perry.  Some of you live in Cochran, Rochelle, Hawkinsville.  I have no idea what stores there are out there in your area.  If you leave a comment and let me know where you shop then I will pull those lists and post them here for you!

Thank you, all of you!  I am so excited that someone besides myself and my sister read this blog.  :-)  You guys are awesome.  If this blog grows big enough then I will be able to have giveaways and contests.  How much fun would that be?  So, if you think about it, tell your friends about us.  The more readers we have the more "weight" we will have when we approach someone about donating something for us to give away.  Good night!

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

Sorry folks, I didn't mean to leave you but Bubba took my laptop on his business trip and I made an emergency run to Athens.  My BFF had surgery and this was the first time I could get up there to see her.  She is doing very well and everyone expects her to have a full recovery.  :-)  If you think of her please say a prayer for her, her husband, and their 5 children as Dad will be doing carpool duty until my BFF is back up and running.  Of course, they have an amazing family support system so he is not alone!

You Don't Have To Do It Alone!

For Bubba and I, one of the toughest things to do was organize our finances.  That is why being introduced to Dave Ramsey's website and then his Financial Peace University was such an answer to prayer for us.  Dave has it all laid out and makes it as easy to follow as 1-2-3!

Now, Bubba and I did it at home with no guidance or help from anyone other than the DVDs, the workbook, and each other.  It was all good but it would have been way BETTER if there had been someone we could talk to on occasion.

In the course of life happening, I was re-introduced to a former acquaintance of ours.  Guess what he does?!?  He is a certified Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Counselor and he's right here in Middle GA!  The only people who can carry that title are the ones who have been trained by Dave Ramsey and his staff at their home office in Tennessee.    Now, before you guys start emailing and calling him with every single little question consider this:  are you SERIOUS about changing your financial situation?  Do not call this gentleman and have him invest his time and energy into your life and financial situation if you aren't SERIOUS about making changes.  His time is just as valuable as yours.  Also, this gentleman has a business (by the way, he is an EXCELLENT photographer...he took our wedding photos) AND a family.  Okay, I said my piece about being considerate so here's how you get in touch with him:

Hal Clower-Personal Finance Coach
478-987-9510
hal@c-cphotography.com

The crazy thing about getting out of debt and organizing your finances means you have MONEY available!  Money to go and do as God guides you. Giving becomes a blessing!  Folks, you can do it!  Get out of debt and stay out!  For most of you it is only a couple of years away.  I would love to hear your story if you have already used Dave Ramsey's plan or are currently using it.

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

His Word Wednesday

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.  The God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. ~ Genesis 1:1-3  (NKJV)

My God, The God, the Creator of everything.  The God, my God, in whom I stand in awe.  He is time, created time, and is outside of time.  He created the earth, the world, the universe and yet He created me and you.  He paints the rainbow, gave flowers and birds their magnificent colors, and He knows me by name.  How do I know that?  In October 1996, on a Wednesday night, in the silence of the University library, He called my name.  "Beloved.  My creation.  My precious child."  My heart leapt within my chest and I knew.  I heard, not the thunder on the mountain tops or the whistling of the wind through the trees, but that unmistakable still small voice.  He whispered to my heart, "Heather, it is time."  It is time.  Time to turn from the mistakes I had made.  Time to stop carrying the weight of the guilt and shame I had been carrying for so long.  Time to relinquish control of my life to the One who created life.  Time to realize that the horrendous torture of the cross was for me, because of me, because He loved me enough to die for me.  It was time to look into the tomb and see that it is still VICTORIOUSLY empty!  Jesus is not dead!  He sits beside the Father and whispers my name.  His hands are still outstretched but this time instead of receiving death they are outstretched in love to give me, us, life!  Victory.  Peace.  Hope.  Joy.  Abundant life.  Eternal life in heaven with Him!

Have you heard Him whisper your name?  Do you hear it now?  Turn off the iPod, the TV, the email, the cell phone.  Sit down, open His Word, listen.  Do you hear it?  He KNOWS your name!  He's calling out to you today!  He loves you...MORE THAN LIFE!  I beg you, I beg you, I am begging you to answer Him when He calls your name.

I love the first couple of chapters of Genesis.  I love the fact that when scientific community cannot give us answers about how life began, God's Word is full of answers and Truth.  I'll be honest with you, as a business major in college the origin of life was not a hot topic.  Bubba on the other hand, as a chemical engineering major was confronted on a daily basis by non-Christian professors who spouted untruths about Darwin and the big bang theory.  It was the first time in his life that he was not prepared with an answer for the hope that was in his heart.  He, unlike other Christians, was confident the answer was in the Bible.  After we got married, he and I went on journey to find the truth about the beginning of time so that if and when we were confronted with scientific theory we would have a concrete Biblical and scientifically accurate answer.  :-)  Happily, the first 2 chapters of Genesis in the Bibles that we were using at the time are very colorful (highlighters and pens), the pages are crammed with notes, and they are worn thin.  Ahhh, the look and feel of a well loved and read Bible.  :-)

I am not going to get into any kind of debate over the origin of life.  I will, however, point you in the direction that we wish someone had pointed us in many years ago.  Do you want to know that what you read in the Bible really is the Truth?  That God's Word is infallible?  In the first 2 chapters of Genesis when God's Word says "day" does it mean a literal 24 hour day or a time frame of unknown length?  Where did Cain get his wife?  If we cannot trust the first 2 chapters of God's Word then why should we, or anyone else, trust or believe in John 3:16?  Head over HERE and get answers for those questions.  Answers in Genesis has leading scientists in all kinds of fields who answer all kinds of questions.  How was the Grand Canyon formed?  Why do we find sea shells on top of very tall mountain peaks?  How old is the earth, really?  Can you explain carbon dating and why they get millions or billions of years?  Other than the creation information they have this AMAZING DVD about the extremely complex way God created the human body.  If you aren't pro-life then you will not want to watch this video because you WILL change your mind when you see the scientific evidence that backs up the Biblical truth that all life is precious.

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

Where do I get coupons?-Part 2

There are many, many, many places to get coupons.  Some of which I am just now learning about even after months of trial and error at this whole couponing thing.  If you missed Part 1 of this then go HERE.  Part 1 is where I would start.

For those who are keeping up or have been reading for awhile then this post is for you.  There are websites devoted to printable coupons:

RedPlum
SmartSource
Coupons.com

With these websites there are a few things to remember:

1)  You may print 2 coupons PER computer (do not make copies as this is fraud)
2)  If you try other zip codes besides the one where you live there might be different coupons
3)  Before you print a coupon make sure it doesn't say "Only valid in...." (ie: there is a Borden's Milk coupon if you use a Texas zip code but it is only valid IN Texas!)
4)  There are a limited number of prints per coupon...this means that the manufacturer decided to allow 150,000 of one particular coupon to be printed and once they are gone, they are gone
5)  Don't print every single coupon available.  Only print the ones you either KNOW or think you will use.  Leave the rest for other people.  For example:  I don't print diaper or baby food coupons unless a friend of mine needs a few extra.
6)  Use the buddy system!  Do you have babies and your neighbor had dogs?  Then print the dog treat coupons for your neighbor and ask them to print the diaper coupons.

Other places you can find coupons:

The cardboard displays in the grocery stores.  There are usually little pads with coupons on them stuck to the display somewhere.  Remember our rule about leaving coupons for other people!  The rule of thumb is to take 4 unless you have a 6+ member family that you are feeding.

From manufacturer websites.  Del Monte puts coupons for their products on their website!  Most of the time you must register to access the coupons.  This is why I have a separate email account just for those kind of situations.  I don't want all the manufacturer newsletters clogging up my personal inbox so that I can't see if you sent me a message or not.

Send the manufacturer an email and include your mailing address.  Not every single time but many times the manufacturer will send you a thank you letter and some coupons.  Today I used a "Get 1 Free" Dove Ultimate Deodorant coupon simply because I sent them an email telling them how much I like their product!  I got a letter in the mail and some coupons with it including that golden coupon for one free deodorant.

Ebay.  Yes, I said it.  Ebay.  If you see that I posted a great deal on something and it included a coupon that you don't have, search Ebay for it.  Are you trying to beef up your coupon collection quickly instead of slow and steady?  Look on Ebay and type in "Coupons" in the search engine.  Word of warning:  Do not buy coupons that have been printed on their printer!!!  Nine times out of ten they are committing coupon fraud.  The more coupon fraud there is out there then the less likely stores will continue to take coupons!

Coupon clipping sites.  The only one that I am aware of is The Coupon Clippers.  There are others similar to this one out there.  At this site you can search for a particular coupon or product, order as many coupons as you need and have them mailed to you.  I just did this to see how it worked.  I got them in the mail in a matter of a few days.  Try to plan ahead as the coupons may not come in time to cash in on some deals.

Well, I will leave you with all of that information.  I've got to go through the blog updates so that I can share any new deals with all of you!

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba

Tide Free Sample

If you go HERE and sign up then you might be able to sign up for a free sample of Tide with Febreeze.  Remember, these are newsletters and I do not pay attention to the frequency of them so I would sign up for a separate email address to have things like this sent to.  You do not want your work or personal email address to get full of product e-newsletters so that important things get lost in the shuffle!

Blessings,

Have you heard of Vocal Point?  I hadn't either until I started following the blogs I read.  Vocal Point is a place where we, as consumers, can voice our opinion about products.  The cool thing is that the companies who want to hear from us will mail high dollar coupons and/or free samples to the members of Vocal Point.  So, if you haven't signed up then go HERE and sign up to be a member.  If you are already a member then go HERE and sign in so they will send you a free sample of Pantene.

I am enjoying my membership with Vocal Point because Olay ProX sent me a full size overnight wrinkle cream to try AND several $10 off coupons to go with it.  If I had bought the cream at the store it would have cost between $35-55 depending on the store!  You can't beat that.  I am looking forward to getting my bottle of Pantene.

Sign Up For E-Newsletters

I got an email from Betty Crocker with a link to coupons for their products.  HERE is where the email sent me.  If you haven't signed up for their emails then I suggest it!  :-)

I recommend that you make an email address just for newsletters like this one so that your personal email inbox doesn't get flooded and your personal emails get lost among the newsletter emails.

Printer Blowout

Newegg.com has some of their printers discounted and most have free shipping.  If you go through Ebates you can get a little bit more of your money back.  When I shop online I go through Ebates or ShopAtHome because they send me a percentage of what I spend back to me.  It's kind of like a rebate you don't have to mail in!

Snow Day!!!

I hope all of you will forgive me for not keeping the blog up to date today.  Snow in Middle GA is kind of an oxymoron so it was just absolutely thrilling to get some!  My hubby and I went over to a friend's house and threw snowballs, made a snowperson, ate soup, drank coffee and hot chocolate and generally had a good time.  The picture above is the motley crew that gathered at our friend's house.  We had sweet fellowship and a good time.

Where do I get coupons?

Can you say THRILLED?  That is what I am right now.  Never did I think that anyone but my family and a few good friends (because they love me) would even read this thing.  So, to have questions come from folks I haven't seen in a while or heard from is just...well, exciting!

I've mentioned this in a past post and will mention it over and over and over again because it is that important.  If you do not know how much you are spending on groceries each month then you need to save your receipts for ONE month and add it up.  To me groceries include that daily stop at the QuickMart for a coke or the Sonic for a Diet Coke.  It includes cleaning supplies and basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion).  It also includes diapers, baby food, and wipes.  Now, for you it might include pet food but for us, we have a separate budget item for pet supplies and vet visits so I do not include kitty litter or dog food in our grocery budget.  So, the first order of business is to calculate how much you are spending on groceries every month.  How can you see your progress if you have no idea where you are right now?!?

Once you know where you are with your grocery budget the next thing you need to consider is where can I pick up coupons?  From all the blogs that I have read they all say pretty much the same thing:  get a Sunday subscription to the largest newspaper you can get your hands on!  For us here in Middle GA that would be the Macon Telegraph.  I wish with all my heart that it was the Atlanta Journal and Constitution (AJC) but it is not.  So, here is what I did:  I got a 1 year, Sunday only subscription to the Macon Telegraph.  I purchased a one year subscription to All You magazine (every issue is filled with coupons).  Each Sunday after church, if there are coupon inserts in the Telegraph I head over and pick up between 2 to 4 Houston Home Journals (HHJ).  Why?  The HHJ sometimes carries the same inserts that were in the Telegraph.  I always pick up one, check and see if there are any inserts and then determine how many to purchase after that.  This past Sunday I bought 4 because I wanted several of the P&G insert.  So, here is what I am paying each week for my newspapers:  $1 for the Telegraph and $.50 each for the HHJ.  I spend between $2-3 each Sunday and am saving around $100 a week between sales and coupons.  Now, is anyone's investments giving them that kind of return these days?!?

The second place you pick up coupons is in the stores themselves.  Publix has that thing that spins right at the front door.  Have you looked closely at that lately?  Sometimes there are coupon books on it!  Now, as you get into it remember that there are other people in this world besides you so DO NOT grab ALL of them!  Since it is just Bubba and I, I usually take 2-4 depending on the type of coupons that are in it.  Obviously if it is all baby coupons, I don't even take one but I call my coupon buddy and let her know it's there.  If it is all vitamins I will leave it because we aren't into that at this stage in our lives.  I believe you get the picture.  If you mosey up and down the aisles you will see little red or black boxes that have blinking lights on them.  These are called "blinkies" and they "spit out" coupons for a particular product.  Once again, be mindful of how many you take.  The rule of thumb is take 4.  Now, if it is a great coupon for baby food and you have 2 little munchkins eating baby food at home then please take a few more because I won't be taking any.  I will be taking a few more than 4 if I see a blinkie for Smart Balance butter or cooking oil because I can't have too much in my home.  I love to cook and bake and need both.

Have you found a great place to pick up coupons?  I would love to hear from you.  Is there a deal that you found and would like to share with everyone else?  Email it to me and I will post it OR leave a comment here for all to see.  :-)  It is my desire that this blog become a community of like minded savers who help each other out.

Blessings,
Mrs. Bubba
